An Act to provide for the award of honours and other distinctions by the President.
[Date of Commencement: 15th September, 1967]
This Act may be cited as the Botswana Honours Act.
In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires-
"honour" means an honour, order, decoration, insignia, badge, medal or distinction and, except in the case of a foreign or Commonwealth honour, means an honour prescribed in the Schedule;
"unauthorized person" means any person other than the person to whom an honour has been awarded under this Act, or his widow.
(1) Honours shall be awarded by the President-
(a) on such occasions and to such persons as he may determine; or
(b) in accordance with any motion passed by a simple majority in the National Assembly calling upon him so to do.
(2) The President may delegate his powers under subsection (1) to any Minister as he deems fit, to present Botswana Honours on the President's
